Tibetan Medicine is a holistic healing system based on natural philosophy and Buddhist psychology that has developed on the Tibetan plateau over the past 4000 years. Today, Tibetan Medicine offers an integrated approach to health using individualized diet and lifestyle modifications, unique herbal therapies, and physical therapies including massage.
Briefly, Tibetan Medicine views all health and illness as a result of energetic balances within the body. External factors - such as a virus, or even cold weather - can effect this balance. Internal thoughts and emotions - such as anger - also have a tremendous influence. The goal of a Tibetan Medicine practitioner is to help restore balance by advising on lifestyle modifications, offering herbal therapies, and performing physical therapies such as massage.
Our Wellness Center is named for Yuthog Yonten Gonpo, a Tibetan physician who founded the first formal Tibetan medical school well over 1,000 years ago. Tibetan Medicine has developed since that time into an active academic discipline and area of research that makes it essential to modern healthcare.
Youlha Tsering graduated from Qinghai University Tibetan Medical College in 2003 and is a licensed Mempa (Doctor) of Tibetan Medicine in Tibet. He practiced in both Tibet and Nepal before coming to the United States in 2011. He honed his study of Tibetan massage at the Shang Shung Institute in Massachusettes and then graduated from the Center for Massage and Natural Health in North Carolina, where he is a licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist.
In 2016, Youlha opened Yuthog Wellness Center in Rochester, MN, bringing a new perspective on health to "Med City." His goal is first and foremost to provide excellent healthcare to all who approach him, and secondly to promote research and academic interest in Tibetan Medicine.
